AI model comparison

GPT-6.1 Sol vs Mistral Large 4

Compare pricing, context limits, supported inputs and deployment options to choose a model for your workflow.

Mistral Large 4 and GPT-6.1 Sol are candidates for coding agents and document-heavy professional tasks. The practical difference begins with deployment: Large 4 has downloadable weights as well as a hosted preview route; Sol is a managed OpenAI API model.

Context and integration

Mistral documents a one-million-token context allowance. Sol documents 1,050,000 tokens. These limits describe accepted input, rather than reliable retrieval of every detail. Test relevant facts in the middle of a large input and require evidence for the final answer.

Sol uses the Responses API for tool workflows and does not support none or minimal reasoning effort. Keep client settings explicit. Large 4’s runtime and commercial terms depend on the selected hosted or local deployment.

Price needs its conditions

Large 4 currently has promotional token rates. Sol has a higher-context price schedule beyond its stated input threshold. Compare the actual processing tier and complete request, not a promotional figure against an unrelated long-context rate.

Workload guidance

Which model should you choose?

Choose a route to evaluate

Start with Large 4 when access to weights is a requirement and you can evaluate its preview or operate a suitable deployment. Start with Sol when your application already uses OpenAI’s managed tool interface and you have representative repository tasks ready to run.

Give each agent the same issue, tools, time limit and acceptance tests. Count regressions, unnecessary changes and repeated attempts. Review cost to an accepted patch and the time a person spends checking it. The larger context allowance or lower advertised input rate does not settle this decision.
