Tasks and inputs
Rnj-1 Base is listed for Text generation. It accepts text and produces text. Use the publisher’s input format and preprocessing for your chosen deployment.
Rnj-1 Base is Essential AI's open-weight dense language model in the Rnj-1 family, focused on coding and STEM.
The specification score summarizes recorded features and limits. It is not a benchmark result.
Recorded modality support shows what this model can accept and produce. An undocumented modality is shown as unknown rather than assumed to be unsupported.

The base checkpoint is intended as a foundation for further training. Use the instruction-tuned version when evaluating a chat assistant. A base checkpoint has a different objective from a model prepared to follow conversational instructions.
The checkpoint configuration uses a 32,768-token context limit. The publisher documents a separate YaRN extension for longer input; that requires configuration changes and has evaluation tradeoffs. This profile records the standard checkpoint limit, rather than treating an optional extension as the default.
Start with issues that have reproducible failures and tests. Check whether a patch solves the issue without breaking nearby behavior. For tool use, record argument validity and whether the model calls a tool when the request actually requires it. Keep the system prompt, tokenizer and runtime version in the evaluation record.
Weights are distributed under Apache 2.0. A downloadable checkpoint does not include free hosting: local inference has hardware costs, and a hosted route has its own limits and prices. Explore Essential AI models and compare alternatives.

Documented limits: 32.77K context. Measure a completed task using the prompts, documents and tools your application will use. Include reasoning and retries in the result.
The weights are downloadable under Apache-2.0. Check runtime support and size the complete model and working context for your expected concurrency.
These records share a directory category. Check the source card, output type and deployment requirements before treating a model as a replacement.
