What is Ming Image 0.1 Design Layer?

Ming Image 0.1 Design Layer separates a flattened design into requested transparent image layers for editing and recomposition.

Turn a flat design into layers

Design Layer takes an image and a layer plan and produces RGBA PNG layers. It is useful when a designer wants to separate a background, text region or illustration from an existing flat composition. The output is a set of raster layers, which should not be described as native editable text or vector paths.

Control the layer request

Supply a detailed layer specification through the prompt, or use the default layer-count option when no prompt is provided. If the prompt declares a layer count, that declaration controls the output. The publisher recommends a 1024 working-resolution bucket, with 512 as a faster option, while preserving the input aspect ratio.

Review reconstruction and edges

Recompose the returned layers and compare the result with the original image. Inspect transparent edges, overlapping objects, small text and regions whose appearance should not change. Check each layer on both a light and dark background to reveal halos or unintended opaque pixels.

Deployment

The published validated setup uses BF16 on one CUDA GPU with 80 GiB VRAM. The companion Ming Image repository and vLLM-Omni recipe describe supported inference paths. The model is MIT-licensed. Keep the original image and the layer plan alongside outputs so an editor can identify what the decomposition changed and repeat it consistently.
