WSP WordPress MCP is a WordPress plugin that exposes selected site-management tools to assistants through the site’s own endpoint.
WSP provides a native WordPress MCP endpoint and tools for content, menus, users, themes and related site operations. The enabled tool groups and the WordPress user’s capabilities define what the assistant can access. Many actions that change the site are disabled until an administrator enables them.
Install and activate the plugin, choose the required abilities in its settings and use the Connection screen to generate the client configuration. The server URL belongs to your WordPress site; there is no universal shared endpoint for every installation. The project documents OAuth for supported connectors and generated configurations for other MCP clients.
On a test site, request a page summary or create a post draft with explicit title and content. Check the result in wp-admin, then inspect the plugin’s audit log. Publishing, theme changes and user administration should be enabled only for the workflow that requires them.
The current README specifies WordPress 6.9 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Some desktop clients use a remote bridge while others connect directly. Use the plugin’s generated configuration for the chosen client rather than copying an older adapter-based example. This is WebSensePro’s community plugin, with GPL-2.0 licensing, rather than a WordPress core service.
