What is the Totem MCP server?

Totem — talk to your wearables with AI. Today: full Whoop access (48 tools). Exposed over MCP by the totem mcp server, that capability becomes something an assistant can invoke while it works, not something you go and do afterwards.

What it actually does

Totem gives Claude (or any MCP-compatible AI) full read + write access to your wearable data. Today it speaks Whoop — every metric, through Whoop's private iOS API.

Configuration

You will need 6 environment variables: MCP_AUTH_TOKEN, WHOOP_IOS_BEARER_TOKEN, WHOOP_COGNITO_REFRESH_TOKEN, WHOOP_USER_ID, WHOOP_INSTALLATION_ID, PUBLIC_URL. The server will not start without them, which is usually why the tools fail to appear on a first run. Keep credentials in your client's env block or a secrets manager rather than in a file you might commit.

Adding it to your client

Installation goes through your MCP client rather than a global install: point it at tsc on npm and it is fetched when the client starts. The copy-paste blocks for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor are further down this page.

Caveats
