What is the Tether MCP Server?

Tether is an MCP integration. Local-first agent memory over SQLite: remember, recall, link, forget. Degrades, never fails.

Packages and local setup

The published pypi package is tether-memory, version 0.6.1. Its declared MCP transport is stdio.

The package declares TETHER_DB: Path to the SQLite memory file. Defaults to the platform data dir (e.g. ~/.local/share/tether/memory.db).; TETHER_SEMANTIC: Set to 0 to force keyword-only recall. Semantic recall needs the [semantic] extra and is on by default when available.; TETHER_SYNC_URL: Optional libSQL/Turso primary URL to sync memory across devices. Leave unset for local-only.; TETHER_SYNC_TOKEN: Auth token for TETHER_SYNC_URL..

Before connecting

Check the maintainer’s instructions for account access, authentication and the supported client configuration. Once connected, inspect the tools your client receives and try a small task that matches the server’s stated purpose. The registry description does not include a verified, complete tool list.
