MCP server for V2EX API 2.0, exposing notifications, tokens, nodes, topics, comments, and daily summaries for MCP-compatible agents.
MCP MCP server exists for a simple reason — assistants are far more useful when they can act on MCP directly instead of describing what you should do. MCP server for V2EX API 2.0, exposing notifications, tokens, nodes, topics, comments, and daily summaries for MCP-compatible agents.
The project is designed as a reusable integration layer for general-purpose agents rather than a client-specific plugin, so it can be connected to Claude Desktop, Codex, and other tools that support the Model Context Protocol.
mcp-server-v2ex is an MCP server that wraps the V2EX API 2.0 for MCP-compatible agents and developer tools. It exposes structured operations for notifications, token management, member profile lookup, node browsing, topic retrieval, comment retrieval, and daily hot-topic summaries.
Once MCP is connected, these are the calls the assistant has available:
notifications — Fetch the latest notificationsdelete_notifications — Delete selected notificationsmember_profile — Get the profile of the user associated with the API tokentoken — Inspect the current API tokencreate_token — Create a new API tokennodes — Get node informationnode_topics — List topics under a specific nodetopic_detail — Get the content of a topictopic_comments — Get replies for a topicdaily_summary — Generate a summary of recent hot topicsmcp-server-v2ex on npm is all you need. Most clients run it directly, so configuration is a few lines and a restart.
You will need 2 environment variables: V2EX_API_KEY, NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED. The server will not start without them, which is usually why the tools fail to appear on a first run. Keep credentials in your client's env block or a secrets manager rather than in a file you might commit.
Plenty of developer tooling servers cover similar ground. The differences that matter in practice are scope of access and how much setup stands between you and a working tool call. MCP's toolset — notifications, delete_notifications, member_profile and 7 more — is a fair guide to whether it matches your workflow. It is maintained by funnythingfunnylove; worth a glance at recent repository activity before you build anything load-bearing on it.
We check each listing at SyncDev against the project's documentation before it goes live — if something here drifts out of date, it is a bug worth reporting.
