What is the Qontoctl MCP server?

Most developer tooling work still happens through a UI a human drives. Qontoctl MCP server moves it into the conversation instead. CLI and MCP server for the Qonto banking API.

The short version

  • Organizations — — retrieve organization details and settings
  • Accounts — — list, create, update, close bank accounts; download IBAN certificates
  • Transactions — — list, search, filter bank transactions; manage transaction attachments
  • Bank Statements — — list, view, and download bank statements
  • Labels — — manage transaction labels and categories
  • Memberships — — view team members, show current membership, invite new members

Getting it running

Because this one is hosted, setup is mostly authentication — you point your client at the endpoint and approve access. Nothing runs on your machine, so there is no runtime to keep patched.

The tools it exposes

The server publishes 14 tools. What each one is for:

  • Organization — The Organization tool exposed by this server
  • org_show — Show organization details including name, slug, and bank accounts
  • Accounts — The Accounts tool exposed by this server
  • account_list — List all bank accounts for the organization
  • account_show — Show details of a specific bank account
  • account_iban_certificate — Download IBAN certificate PDF for a bank account
  • account_create — Create a new bank account
  • account_update — Update an existing bank account
  • account_close — Close a bank account
  • Transactions — The Transactions tool exposed by this server
  • transaction_list — List transactions for a bank account with optional filters
  • transaction_show — Show details of a specific transaction

What it needs from you

Configuration is passed through the environment: QONTOCTL_CONFIG_FILE. Treat anything key-shaped as a real credential — scope it to the minimum the server needs, and rotate it if it ever lands in a shared config.

  • Node.js >= 24 - A Qonto business account with API access

Things to watch

  • Your data travels to the provider's service, so the usual questions apply about what you send and what they retain.
  • With 14 tools registered it takes up a noticeable share of the context window; turn it off in projects that never touch Qontoctl.
  • Keep per-call confirmation enabled while you learn its behaviour; it is the cheapest safeguard you have.

How it compares

Plenty of developer tooling servers cover similar ground. The differences that matter in practice are scope of access and how much setup stands between you and a working tool call. Qontoctl's toolset — Organization, org_show, Accounts and 11 more — is a fair guide to whether it matches your workflow. It is maintained by alexey-pelykh; worth a glance at recent repository activity before you build anything load-bearing on it.

SyncDev reviews every entry in this directory against the project's own documentation before publishing, and revisits them as servers change.

Frequently asked questions

It connects Qontoctl to MCP-compatible AI assistants such as Claude and Cursor, exposing 14 tools (Organization, org_show, Accounts, and more) that the assistant can call on your behalf. Instead of copying data back and forth by hand, the assistant works with Qontoctl directly.
