If you want an AI assistant working directly with MCP Nextjs, the mcp nextjs mcp server is the bridge. This is a Next.js-based application that provides an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server with OAuth 2.1 authentication support. It is intended as a model for building your own MCP server in a Next.js context. It uses the @vercel/mcp-adapter to handle the MCP.
This is a Next.js-based application that provides an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server with OAuth 2.1 authentication support. It is intended as a model for building your own MCP server in a Next.js context. It uses the @vercel/mcp-adapter to handle the MCP protocol, in order to support both SSE and Streamable HTTP transports.
The server is distributed via npm as prisma, so most clients can run it without a manual build step. Add it to your MCP client's configuration and restart the client to pick it up — the copy-paste configs for Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor are on this page.
Before the server will start you need to supply 5 environment variables: DATABASE_URL, AUTH_SECRET, GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID, GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET, REDIS_URL. Keep credentials in your client's env block or a secrets manager rather than committing them.
Cloud and DevOps servers put infrastructure on speaking terms with your assistant, so "why is this broken?" is answered from real state rather than a generic checklist. MCP Nextjs sits in that group. Worth comparing against the other cloud devops servers in this directory before you commit to one, since several overlap in scope but differ sharply in setup cost and permissions.
