This project is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides programmatic access to Maersk vessel information, including vessel schedules and shipment deadlines. It exposes tools that can be used by MCP-compatible clients (like. Exposed over MCP by the maersk mcp mcp server, that capability becomes something an assistant can invoke while it works, not something you go and do afterwards.
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that enables AI assistants to connect to external data sources and tools. MCP servers provide a standardized way for AI models to access real-time information and perform actions through a secure, structured interface.
The server ships on a container image as dipankan001/maersk-mcp, so your MCP client can launch it on demand — there is no separate build step. Add the server block to your client's configuration, restart it, and the tools register themselves.
You will need one environment variable: CONSUMER_KEY. The server will not start without them, which is usually why the tools fail to appear on a first run. Keep credentials in your client's env block or a secrets manager rather than in a file you might commit.
CONSUMER_KEY in your environment)Among the developer tooling options, the useful question is rarely "what can it do" but "what does it cost you to run" — permissions, credentials, and how much of your context its toolset consumes. It is maintained by idipankan; worth a glance at recent repository activity before you build anything load-bearing on it.
We check each listing at SyncDev against the project's documentation before it goes live — if something here drifts out of date, it is a bug worth reporting.
