What is the Luma API MCP Server?

Luma’s API MCP example exposes image and video generation with prompts, aspect ratios and reference inputs through a local Python server.

Generate with the documented model interface

The server implements create_image and create_video. Image requests can supply image, style, character and modification references; video requests can specify keyframes, loop behaviour, duration and resolution. Supported values follow the implementation and the models available to the account.

Configure a Luma API account

The repository documents obtaining a Luma API key and using its setup script to configure the client. Review that script and the generated local configuration before launching the server. This is a source example using the Python MCP SDK, not a universal hosted Luma MCP URL. Keep compatible SDK dependencies when using the example's FastMCP imports.

Check the generation result

Begin with a short prompt and one supported output setting. Inspect the returned image or video, then test a reference input separately so its effect is clear. Generation can take longer than a simple text tool call. Model availability, request validation and charges come from the Luma API; the example's defaults are not a promise that every future model option is supported.
