Louvre Collection MCP searches artwork records and retrieves details or image references from the Louvre’s digital collection.
The community server exposes search-artwork, get-artwork-detail and get-artwork-images. It retrieves records from the Louvre’s digital collection, giving an assistant a concrete source for an artwork’s identity, description and available images. It is a collection lookup, not an official museum assistant or ticketing service.
The project documents installing dependencies and building TypeScript, then launching build/index.js through the MCP client. The package’s start script also targets that compiled file. Replace the example absolute path with the source checkout’s actual build path.
Start with a distinctive title or creator, inspect several search results and select the intended collection record. Ask for its details using the returned identifier. Similar titles and attributed works can refer to different objects, so keep the record URL and identifier with any summary.
The image tool supplies available references or image information; it does not establish a reuse licence for every artwork photograph. Follow the collection’s own terms for an intended publication. The README and package metadata disagree about the software licence, so this profile leaves that label unconfirmed and directs readers to the repository. A working MCP connection also remains dependent on the collection’s response format and availability.
Check the linked publisher documentation and your connected client's tool list. Names and availability can vary with the server version and account permissions.
