What is the Google MCP server?

Search Google's Knowledge Graph for structured information about real-world entities. Exposed over MCP by the google mcp server, that capability becomes something an assistant can invoke while it works, not something you go and do afterwards.

What it actually does

Model Context Protocol server that connects Claude (or any MCP client) to Google's free public Knowledge Graph API. Search for real-world entities - people, places, organisations, concepts - and get structured data back.

Adding it to your client

Configuration

You will need one environment variable: GOOGLE_KNOWLEDGE_GRAPH_API_KEY. The server will not start without them, which is usually why the tools fail to appear on a first run. Keep credentials in your client's env block or a secrets manager rather than in a file you might commit.
