MCP Gateway Go wraps a local stdio MCP process in a self-hosted SSE endpoint so compatible remote clients can access its tools.
This Go gateway starts a selected local MCP server and forwards protocol messages between its stdio connection and an SSE HTTP interface. It does not supply a separate catalogue of task tools. Tool discovery and execution follow the child server launched with the command argument.
The repository documents go install and a command that wraps a filesystem server. Configure the listening port, base URL, SSE path and message path explicitly. The README and CLI differ on the default message path, so the setup example below passes /message directly to make that choice clear.
The implementation splits the command string on spaces. A path containing spaces or shell-style quoted arguments can therefore reach the child process differently from what the operator intended. Start with simple arguments and inspect the launched process before adapting a more complicated server configuration.
Connect an SSE-compatible client, compare its discovered tools with the child server's tools and run one bounded request. For the filesystem example, use a dedicated test directory and inspect a known file. The gateway's bearer option is not a complete browser OAuth flow or a general access-control guarantee. Review the HTTP exposure and authentication behaviour for your deployment; transport forwarding does not change the permissions of the child process.
mcp-gateway-go --port 7979 --baseUrl http://127.0.0.1:7979 --ssePath /sse --messagePath /message --command "npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem /tmp"Install the gateway with the repository’s go install command. This example delegates filesystem access to /tmp; choose an appropriate test directory and review endpoint access before exposure.
