Connect supported assistants to Figma design context through the official OAuth endpoint.
Figma's official MCP server connects a supported assistant to Figma design context through a remote OAuth endpoint. It is maintained by Figma and differs from the local Framelink community server.
A useful first task is implementing a specific frame in an existing application. Give the assistant the frame or layer link and describe the framework and component library already in use. Then review spacing, typography, assets and responsive behavior in the browser.
The remote endpoint is https://mcp.figma.com/mcp. Use Figma's supported-client catalog before choosing an integration, then complete the OAuth sign-in flow for the intended account. Account permissions still determine which design files can be accessed.
The current vendor documentation covers design-context retrieval and supported canvas-writing workflows. Availability varies by client. Review an intended write before applying it, and verify the resulting frame or diagram in Figma.
If the server connects but cannot resolve a design, check the file permissions and the frame link. If generated code uses generic components, provide the application conventions and relevant design-system mapping. Judge the result against the actual interface, not only a code preview.
Compare the Framelink community server, explore design integrations or browse remote MCP servers.
Supply a Figma frame link and match the implementation to your existing components.
Retrieve structured design information for a supported client workflow.
Check the linked publisher documentation and your connected client's tool list. Names and availability can vary with the server version and account permissions.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| get_design_context | Retrieve structured design context for a linked layer or frame. |
| get_metadata | Inspect a concise XML outline to choose the relevant nodes. |
| get_screenshot | Capture a visual reference for supported Figma selections. |
| get_variable_defs | Read variables and styles such as colors and spacing. |
| get_code_connect_map | Look up mappings between design nodes and code components. |
| download_assets | Fetch exports and original source images through the remote server. |
